ScubaDuba Goals & Features:
ScubaDuba seeks to be the best scuba-related site on the world wide web. A lofty goal, yes, but one that we fully intend to achieve. You'll notice that we have the most well-organized indices of scuba-related resources on the Internet, but that's only the start. We have also added several features to the site that have become extremely popular:
1. The ScubaDuba Discussion Boards are for divers to post and read messages on diving-related topics. Several of these boards are extremely active, and we've found that questions or requests for advice receive responses on the board or through email rather quickly. Start posting!
2. The ScubaDuba Chat Room is a java-based live chat room that works similarly to chat areas on America Online, Prodigy and other commercial online services. You must have a java-capable browser to participate, but now you have another reason to upgrade!
3. The ScubaDuba Classified Ads give divers all over the world the opportunity to buy, sell and trade diving-related goods. All private and company parties are welcome to post paid ads through our site. With over 25,000 unique targeted visitors/month your ad will get a lot of exposure!
4. The ScubaDuba Dive Buddy Directory allows for divers and dive business around the world to find others with interests and/or goals in common for correspondence, etc. There are more than 900 divers from around the world registered in the Dive Buddy Directory! Registering is easy, so fill out the entry form and get to know divers from countries spanning the globe.
5. The ScubaDuba Photo Gallery features the photographic work of pros and amateurs from around the world. Below each image in the gallery is a description of the photo, and clicking on the photo itself will allow you to email the photographer with your comments. Any photographer, amateur or pro, is welcome to submit a photo for inclusion in The ScubaDuba Photo Gallery. Details for submitting photos will be sent to you if you email info@scubaduba.com
6. ScubaDuba Postcards is our latest easy-to-use feature enables you to choose an image from our Photo Gallery, attach a personalized message, and then send one or more of your friends a ScubaDuba Postcard. It's a lot of fun, and we'll be regularly updating the underwater images for you to send.
7. The ScubaDuba Top 5: A Worldwide Attempt At Scuba Humor involves the participation of visitors to our site. Since we first posted the plans for this 'project' in August, 1996, we have been innundated with responses. Some made us laugh out loud, some made us chuckle, and some.....well, some contributors should keep their day jobs! A new Top 5 List is posted every Monday. We invite you to try your hand at the Top 5 and show the world that divers DO have a sense of humor!
9. ScubaDuba WebLibs is the old party game with a new, underwater twist. You simply fill in a page of blanks with whatever words you like. When you're done your choices will be inserted into a randomly-chosen story with a scuba theme. What you've written may end up being fantastic, screamingly funny, shocking, silly, crazy or just plain dumb. It all depends upon the words you've chosen and how they "fit" into the story!
And we're only just beginning! Exclusive essays and articles, live chats with notable figures in the world of scuba diving, contests and dive trip giveaways, and lots more are all in the process of being developed.
Where Do Our Link Descriptions Come From?:
Descriptions of linked sites originally come from the sites themselves, but we do allow webhosts to edit descriptions of links to their sites. We also welcome you to Add A Link to our site using our handy-dandy form. We may edit some submitted descriptions to take out editorializing (such as: "we are the best dive shop in...," "we make the world's greatest regulators," etc.), but please note that ScubaDuba takes no responsibility for the claims made by any of the web sites we link to.
Occasionally, we might be really impressed with a site, a product, an accommodation, etc., and will mention that we are, but we've taken great care to make sure you can tell the difference between our opinion and someone else's claim.
We've categorized the different sites as best we can, and only a few links have been put under more than one category. It's fun to browse around the various categories and pages and stumble across a site that catches your attention, and we've even built a Random Link script that will take you to any of the more-than-2,500 we link to. We have also built a searchable database so that you can directly find the ScubaDuba links you're looking for.
